The Villans have already lined up their replacement for Moussa Diaby.
Aston Villa have made a blistering start to the summer transfer window having already signed Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea, Jaden Philogene, Ross Barkley, Ian Maatsen and Samuel Iling-Junior.
Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is set to become the seventh addition of the window, though, the incomings aren’t expected to stop there.
A replacement for the outbound Moussa Diaby is needed and Villa have already identified the ideal man.
Aston Villa want Joao Felix to replace Moussa Diaby
Once Diaby completes his £50m move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, Aston Villa are expected to accelerate a move for Atletico Madrid playmaker Joao Felix, who’s been labelled ‘one of the best’ per Football Espana.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim Felix is the number one target to replace the French wide player this summer.
TBR reported earlier this month that Unai Emery would love to bring the Portugal international to Villa Park and believes a deal is very feasible.
It’s thought that any forthcoming move would be a loan with an option to buy, perhaps set at around £50m.
Aston Villa face competition
Aston Villa aren’t the only club interested in signing Felix as his former club Benfica are keen to bring him home.
It remains to be seen if they’ll be able to afford his fee and wages but anyhow, Villa certainly have the greater pulling power with Premier League and Champions League football.
Felix had a spell in the Premier League during the 2022/23 season with Chelsea and seemed to enjoy his stay, even if it was only brief.
In other news, Inter Milan are considering paying £50m to sign an ‘exceptional’ Aston Villa player.
